We offer low-cost/free courses for people who would benefit from time in nature, such as those who've experienced depression, anxiety, and stress.

These groups offer individuals a chance to enjoy a wide range of nature-based activities in a supportive group, led by experienced leaders. Activities include guided nature walks, conservation, nature-based craft activities, beachcombing, shepherding, creative and mindfulness exercises and so much more.

Our courses are designed to suit various levels of ability, and we have a very easy application process. If you think you would benefit from time in nature we would love to hear from you.

In the meantime we will be working once again with Brighton and Hove Food Partnership to deliver an 8-week Growing New Roots course for Brighton and Hove folk

This supportive group is a wonderful way to help improve wellbeing, get outdoors and take time to connect with the local landscape. Typical activities include: guided walks on beautiful chalk grassland, conservation & learning about the heritage of the Downs, guided mindfulness, foraging, learning natural crafts and traditional skills.

The next taster session is Friday 9th February 2024. After attending the taster, you can apply to join the 8-week group, which runs from Friday 16th February – Friday 12th April 2024, 11am – 2pm.

We will be based at the Food Partnership Clubhouse on Saddlescombe Road, BN1 8AX. Free minibus transport will be provided from central Brighton as required.

I couldn’t express in words how beneficial it’s been…inspiring, motivating, so much to take away. It’s been a privilege.

I’ve had many years with very little interaction with other people. To be involved in this group has given me great hope.

Group Guidelines are available to read here.

We welcome people of all ages (over 18) and backgrounds on this course. We offer a supportive, nourishing environment, but unfortunately cannot support people in crisis. It's a fairly intensive course, so if you have high levels of complex need, we'd recommend you start with introductory nature connection courses run at Recovery College
